Our Heritage

St. John's Matric. Hr.Sec.School is managed by the Congregation of Claretian Missionaries. The Congregation was founded by St. Anthony Mary Claret in 1849 in Spain to work for the promotion of socio-economic, educational and religious well-being of the underprivileged.

The Claretians render service in more than 69 countries through multifarious means and began serving in Tamil Nadu in 1976. With 170+ years of educational service to the global community, we offer qualitative, adequate and integral formation to the students of Madurai.

ST. JOHN, OUR LOVING PATRON

St. John, the son of Zebedee and the brother of St. James the great, was called to be an Apostle by Our Lord in the first year of His public ministry. He lived in the first century AD. He was one of the Twelve disciples of Jesus and also called lovingly as 'the beloved disciple'.

St. John is called the 'Apostle of Charity,' a virtue he had learnt from his Master Jesus, which was constantly inculcated by word and example. He inspires by his life that each Johnian should be a flame of love and a glove of wisdom. He also invites each Johnian to be intellectually competent, professionally skilled, spiritually evolved, morally upright, socially responsive and culturally integrated in the world.

Curriculum of St. John's, on the one hand imparts updated vistas of knowledge with all its scientific temper and on the other, addresses to the latent goodness in the children to love and to serve the underprivileged. Therefore, fostering of 'Love and Wisdom' becomes the substratum of all Curricular and Co-curricular syllabi of the school. As a means to translate our vision, St. John's believes in co-education from kindergarten onwards.

SCHOOL HISTORY

St. John's Matric. Hr. Sec. School began its journey in the field of Education on 5th June 2002. It began with classes from Pre KG to Std I. The school was upgraded as Higher Secondary School in the academic year 2009-2010. The School has received due recognition from the Education Department, Government of Tamilnadu.
