Founder Of Claretian Congregation

St. John’s Matric. Hr.Sec.School is managed by the Congregation of Claretian Missionaries. The Congregation was started by St. Anthony Mary Claret in the year 1849 in Spain to work for the promotion of socio-economic, educational and religious well-being of the underprivileged.

The Claretians who render service in more than 69 countries through multifarious means began to serve in Tamilnadu ever since 1976. With the experience of rendering educational service to the World community for the past 170 years, they have come to offer qualitative, adequate and integral formation to the students of Madurai. A student of St. John’s can comfortably swim across the Copernican changes enveloping the contemporary world. A Johnian is prepared to be a World citizen and feel fit in any part of the Globe.

ST. JOHN, OUR LOVING PATRON

St. John, the son of Zebedee and the brother of St. James the great, was called to be an Apostle by Our Lord in the first year of His public ministry. He lived in the first century AD. He was one of the Twelve disciples of Jesus and also called lovingly as ‘the beloved disciple’. St. John is called the ‘Apostle of Charity,’ a virtue he had learnt from his Master Jesus, which was constantly inculcated by word and example. He inspires by his life that each Johnian should be a flame of love and a glove of wisdom. He also invites each Johnian to be intellectually competent, professionally skilled, spiritually evolved, morally upright, socially responsive and culturally integrated in the world.
